This is my first blog post.
I’m sitting at a McDonalds and having a cup of coffee. I like their American coffee.
I took a day off from work to lay the foundations for this blog. I have most of the raw materials scattered around my garage, that is, my brain; I just need some time and mental energy to put things in order.
Why am I creating a blog?
For one reason: I need to have a reliable source of information about mechanical engineering out there on the web.
I’ve grown sick and tired of science and engineering blogs being nothing but a disappointment. I’ve read a lot of engineering blogs, and I’ve come to this conclusion: most of them are useless.
With the information they provide you, you can do absolutely nothing in the real world.
You know, the REAL WORLD. Where people are working and getting things done.
Imagine reading a cooking blog describing to you how tasty a good bone broth soup is, but you’re reading it to LEARN HOW TO COOK. And after reading for a few minutes, you realize that you’re learning nothing.
Why did I choose long-form content instead of short-form?
We’re living in an era where most humans view and subscribe to short-form content creators. Not only is this frying their brains and attention spans but also creating a massive gap between those who know and those who don’t know.
Let me explain.
Two men set out to learn about history. The first man subscribes to 20 different short-form content creators, whereas the other reads a reliable, well-written and highly informative history blog or book.
In two months, who will have more knowledge about history? The short-form content guy or the long-form blog/book guy?
The key word here is KNOWLEDGE.
Not pseudo-knowledge, shallow knowledge or tiktok knowledge.
Actual, raw knowledge. The type of knowledge you don’t get without mental effort.
The type of knowledge that separates men into two: those who know, and those who think that they know.
I don’t know about you, but I would much rather be with those who know. Even though theirs is a difficult path, but it leads them to understanding, to knowledge.
I’ve created this blog for men and women out there who are not satisfied with shallow information and would love to take a daily dive into the details of some of the world’s most complicated topics.
I promise my readers that I will never write a useless blog post.
I promise my readers that I will dive as deep as I can into every topic.
What is my vision for the future of this blog?
I would like for this blog to become a reliable source of engineering information that is available to anyone, anywhere. A condensed version of the things I learn every day in my career.
Maybe one day I’ll be eighty years old trying to remember pressure loss calculations… Hopefully, I’ll have this blog to skim through and remember. 🙂
Why would engineers be interested in reading my blog?
Just as a car stops at a gas station to fill up its tank with gas, you’re welcome to view my blog and fill up your knowledge tank with information that might interest you. I’ll do my best to produce clear, technical, detailed articles with practical guides which you can put to work.
I believe that expertise in a given domain is similar to a mountain hike. And as long as you’re working in a certain domain, you’re on a long mountain hike.
You’re free to take a nap under a tree. You’re free to take your time and walk at a comfortable pace.
But you can also climb with vigor.
You can climb with all the strength in your muscles to get as high up on the path as you can.
You’re in this mountain hike anyway, so why not race to the top and have some fun while you’re at it?

Yours truly,
Tony
